This looks like a general statement. However, when you see the same in Shirdi in Samadhi Mandir, it strikes you very hard. But one tends to forget the significance of the same when they come out of momentary bliss that they experience in samadhi mandir.
Couple of days back, when Babugaru was talking, he mentioned about this and said that the reason why Sai Master Said Sai Baba was avatar of this Yuga is because he understood the these words in the sense Baba used.
Until one understands how Mahatmas live their life, they can not understand the significance of the words that come out of them. Every word spoken by them have deeper meaning and they mean what they say. No other Mahatma or Avatar said the above words and only Baba said this. In many ways than one, he said he is the protector and hence, proved that he is in omnipresent.
"It just needs one glance at him, and he gives you salvation." This is an assurance that he gives to anyone who looks at him.
Then he also said "Why fear when I am here?". Still, we always say how we can live if others are trying to harm us. Are they harming us? Or is it our perception? Still, when Baba is there, why fear? He will take care. Everytime, that may not be so clearly visible. But if one has deep faith, the faith that can not be shattered, then he will surely protect us. One just needs to look at him. That's all !!
